APPLE & CHEDDAR HAND PIES
Heirloom Apple with Maple Syrup
Everything’s better with apple and cheddar, especially when wrapped in flaky pastry! These cute hand pies are the perfect snack for breakfast on the go, a lunchbox treat, or your next get-together.
Ingredients:
Blake Hill Heirloom Apple with Maple Syrup
1 Package Frozen Pastry Sheets
Cabot Sharp Cheddar Cheese, shredded
1 Egg
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Thaw dough according to package directions, unroll, and cut into an even number of shapes with your preferred cookie cutter. Transfer half of them to the baking sheet.
Spoon 1-2 tablespoons of Heirloom Apple with Maple Syrup onto the center of each shape, depending on size.
Moisten the edges of each shape with cold water, then top with another pastry shape and use the back of a fork to crimp and seal the edges. Repeat until all shapes are filled.
Whisk the egg in a small bowl and brush the tops with egg wash. Use a sharp knife to cut a small slit in the top of each pie.
Bake for 15 minutes, then remove from the oven and sprinkle tops with shredded cheddar. Return to the oven and bake until golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 5 more minutes.
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
Baker’s Tip: Serve the crispy burnt cheddar bits alongside the hand pies — they’re delicious!
